Dept. of Building System Technology

Dept. of Building System Technology

As buildings become ever taller and larger, construction equipment is required to have superior functions, while fire safety (disaster prevention) facilities and their management have become far more important than before from the perspective of wider society. Therefore, our department aims to produce world-class engineers who can actively respond to social changes, by providing students of the existing department with opportunities for practical intensive training.

Subject Education Contents
Construction Equipment English This class is designed to enable students to understand foreign design books in preparation for the Korea-US FTA, to acquire knowledge on foreign major publications, equipment specifications, and practical tool & material manuals, and to improve their ability to translate design books into English.
Image Making This class aims to educate students in the attitudes, facial expressions, attire, manner, etc. required of professional engineers in order to project a bright and comfortable image at workplaces or industrial sites. It also helps students to cultivate the appropriate communication skills by teaching them the speech registers, attitudes, etc. necessary for consultation, compromise, adjustment, etc.
Noise & Vibration Engineering This class is designed to cultivate students’ ability to establish noise & vibration prevention plans, measurements, etc. by mastering the basic theory, studies on the impacts of noise and vibration, and methods and techniques of measuring noise and vibration.
Practice of Building Management This class is designed to teach students about the efficient management and operation of a building in terms of energy conservation and consultation on new buildings.
Term Project This class is designed to cultivate all-around engineers by teaching students how to organize and master the knowledge acquired in the process of selecting a project by occupational group, discussing, and drawing conclusions.
Practice of CAD (BIM) Architectural drawing with AutoCAD, which is essential for design at the industrial sites, air conditioning and heating facilities, and drainage and sanitation facilities, is gradually changing to a 3-dimensional operation. Thus, this class is designed to help students to master 3-dimensional design of every type of facility through the acquisition of 3-dimensional Building Information Management (BIM) skills.
Seminar on Practical Skills for Construction Equipmen This class is designed to equip students with professionalism in the practical field through individual or group presentations, discussions, and opinion gathering of the intensive research by theme, including air distribution systems of construction and fire safety equipment, water distribution systems, and fire prevention systems.
Practical Class on Firefighting Equipment (Machinery, Electricity Fields) This class aims to teach students how to apply overall construction methods, installation standards and design standards to the actual field of firefighting by mastering theory and practice relevant to the design of water-based fire extinction systems and gas-based fire extinction systems.
Practice of Fire Prevention This class is designed to help students acquire the ability to apply design, maintenance, and inspection methods of firefighting facilities to industrial settings through practical training.
Direct Digital Control (DDC) This class aims to teach students how to program and utilize DDC (Direct Digital Control) for the design and operation of machines, electricity, lighting, security and emergency equipment that are installed in buildings, to configure and interwork automatic control, and to implement energy saving measures.
Green Building This class is designed to help students acquire eco-friendly design capabilities by learning about energy load reduction, recycling, and environmental pollution reduction technologies, etc. in order to save energy and protect the environment.
Toilet Facility This class aims to teach students water saving and practical skills through intensive training on design, systematic research and development, and planning in relation to toilet facilities.
Facility Optimization This class is designed to help students master construction equipment design and fire protection design by equipping them with the ability to interpret optimization using algebraic techniques, search methods, linear & geometric programming, and numerical analysis, in order to predict and analyze thermal energy systems, ranging from design to TAB.
